Design Inspiration

Business Cards
This business card is creative in that its creates a comdeial humorous approach to the situation of a divorce and a divorce lawyer.

This business card design is very creative in that it gets the client thinking and the innovative design makes the client remember the balloon and therefore remember the business.

Packaging

I like this rough sketchy idea of wine label packaging... along with providing the necessary information the labels create a lasting memorable impression upon the viewer.

This CD packaging idea is impressive, creative and memorable... the use of bright colours attract attention and the use of a donut as the CD design and donut box creates a cartoon, animated comedial approach to the design.

Billboards

This billboard advertising the show law and order makes use of a light which draws attention and highlights upon the nature of the show... cleverly designed billboard leaves a lasting impression upon viewer.

This billboard similarly to the law and order one makes use of power lines to draw attention and create humour.  the power lines are used to symbolise the man in the billboards nose hairs... therefore aswell leaving a lasting memorable impression.

Adds

Creative use of hands as public transport handle's expresses the meaning of the poster and therefor advertises the need for the dettol. The meaning behind the poster is "how many dirty hands have you held?" in other words how many hand touched the public transport before you.  An awesome advertisement which really attracts my attention!

i love this idea for a sticker for the side of a bus...the add is very realistic and very memorable... the sticker grabs your attention and triggers your train of thought to think about the zoo.

Bad logos

Now theres some ugly logos out there... these are some of my favourite uglies.

Both logors make use of too many colours, crowded layout and complicated design.  Logos are supposed to be simple, attractive and impressive. These two definetely dont meet my standards.

Good Logos

These logos on the other hand; simple, creative, cartoony, meet the requirements and advertise obviously the nature of the business.  Above; beverage company.

Above: stationary and art supplies for a younger market.

Typography use

Typography is becoming a massive part of design these days.  typography can make or break a design or typography can simple be all a design consists of.  Above is an awesome use of typography in that the add displays all necesarry information in a creative way.
Above the use of typography draws the readers attention and although the layout is crowded and messy its suited to the design style.

Stationary

Stationary design and corporate branding is a very important aspect of a business and can greatly influence upon that business' success.  Both stationary designs here evidently have a neat, consitant layout in which helps the stationary tie in to one another and therfore create a successful visual ID.

SYDNEY BIENNALE

THE BEAUTY OF DISTANCE:
Songs of Survival in a Precarious Age

As a class we attended Sydney’s 17th biennale which celebrated the beauty of distance by including art works from around the whole world.

The title Beauty of Distance explores the fact that the Distance between one and another allows each individual to be different in their own way.  Distance explores the condition of art itself in that for art to be art there must be a distance between itself and real life.  There must be a distance between art and life in that no matter how terrible, abstract, beautiful or alluring an artwork is unlike real life nobody can get hurt.

Posted below are some of the artworks viewed threw out the day...

These artworks were very overwhelming and freaky... really made you think about the meaning and artists thoughts.

These wax made figures were amazing... so life like that you actually were compelled to touch them.  This one above in particular was very life like in that the mouth moved as the figure "slept" and breating noises were played to add to the realism.

These screens left a very memorable impression on the viewer as the large scaled images ran threw the slides and movies... The artwork was very overwhelming in that as you looked around the room the images were impossible to escape from.

This artwork very inspirational was made out of tupperware baskets... like a plastic forest.  I loved the artwork because as you look at it you dont realise what its made out of... the work just looks like an aesthetically pleasing feature, although when you realise what its made of the artwork takes on a whole other meaning.

This artwork a four sided pilon covered in this texts really challenges the viewer and makes them think into the meaning in a great deal.

This artwork is a little hard to see from the photograph although it was an antique piano which was on levers that slid up and down the pylons while making blunt, loud noises.

ONE
 TWO
THREE
The last viewed artwork for the day was these cars... a personal favourite and a favourite for numerous other individuals aswell (obvious threw reviews)  the artwork was amazing... had a massive influence on me due to the large scale of it and was very inspirational.

Overall the exhibition was very inspiration and really made myself as an artist think.

TRADE MAGAZINE REVIEW : Frankie

FRANKIE MAGAZINE

Frankie magazine is a national bi-monthly magazine based in Australia, aimed at women (and men). The magazine is described to be smart, funny, sarcastic, friendly, cute, rude, art and curious.
Frankie magazine covers a range subjects including; culture, DIY and vintage culture, music, art, fashion, photography, craft, humor, illustration and design. The magazine also provides supports for up and coming artists by profiling them and advertising their talent.

One of my favourite articles in Frankie magazine was about how a girl took a polaroid picture everyday... i found this interesting as it explores the idea of polaroids as somewhat like a diary entry. This is one of my favourite articles as its inspiring and interesting.

Book Review: Big Book of Colour in Design

The big book of colour In Design written by David E Carter explores the wide use of colour and the history behind the development and meanings of colour.

Within the book you can find hundreds of design ideas and colour schemes to aid in the brainstorming and inspiration process for designers.

While looking further into this book readers can see how colour is used to creates moods, images and emotions. Along with these schemes and images also provided CMYK formulas again to conveniently aid designers.

The author of “The Big Book of Colour in Design” is David E Carter and as we look back in his history we see how he is one of Designers best seeling authors, evidently reflecting upon the success of this book as well as all of his others.
